Our Story

Our company started with an experiement growing oyster mushrooms on straw in an attic back in 2019. Michael observed the resilience of these organisms in less than ideal circumstances and saw an opportunity to attempt cultivation on a larger scale. Eventually he reached out to a friend he knew with an agriculture background, and in the spring of 2020 MO’ Mushrooms was born.

Besides growing mushrooms, both Michael and Stephen were epicurean sorts, with a passion for unique and creative food. Living in southwestern Missouri, the food scene left much to be desired, and they decided that they would make it a part of their mission as a business to help to progress food culture in the region.

Two years into their endeavor, the guys have moved from a small grow tent to a much larger growing space. What started as a small table at the Webb City Farmers’ Market has grown into a company selling to many restaurants, grocers, and customers throughout the region.

To hedge against what was initially a slow demand, the guys developed a line of value added products to avoid waste of overproduction. Today they have a loyal following of customers returning time and time again for mushroom jerky, dried mushrooms and mushroom powders.

All products are made under health department licensure in an inspected certified kitchen.
